Tuesday May 6 - Metula, Israel
We left Tzfat and contiued north to Metual.
We traveled north to Metula, the most northern city in Israel. Metula has a special connection to Canada as you'll see in the photos. To get there, we traveled along the Lebanese border, and took some turns that brought us very close to it. We continued on to the Golan, passing by one of the sources of the Jordan River, where the water literally pours forth from the side of a hillside, forming a small stream. We also passed by the Golan Heights Winery, but it was closed early in preparation for Yom Ha'atzmaut, Isreal's birthday.
The Golan is a very beautiful area that was captured in 1967 from the Syrians. They used it for 19 years as a gun emplacement to fire down on the Israelis in the valley below.
